Raspberry Champagne Cocktail (and Apartment Tour)

Recipe for a champagne cocktail with raspberry sorbet and a candy cane rim.

Happy holidays, friends! I'll have an end of the year recap for you next week but this cocktail is my last recipe for 2017. Clearly it needed to be a festive one. Drink it at Christmas, on New Year's Eve or every night in between so that we can properly close out this year and get a fresh, if slightly hung over, start on the new one.

You can just scroll to the bottom for the recipe. But those of you following me on social media have probably been bombarded with endless paint chip samples, fabric swatch choices and general angst over home decor. So now that I'm done with the re-doing, I thought you might like a little tour of what I chose. Note that this is not sponsored. These companies don't know I exist and have not been showering me with money and expensive products. Although they're certainly welcome to anytime. Ha!

If you're interested in the details of anything I chose, I linked it all at the bottom of the post. Starting  with the winner of the #50shadesofgraypaint dilemma, I went with Dior Gray from Benjamin Moore. Dark but not too dark. The correct amount of darkness! And a nice contrast to the light colored sofa I chose from Pottery Barn.

Naturally I left space for Hadley to have a place to nap.

The chairs I chose, from Target, are a similar color to the sofa and share the same nails head design.

My round glass dining room table from Pier 1 is a good fit for my space and the swoop style chairs I chose, from Bob's Discount Furniture, are also light colored and super comfortable.

The tall floor lamp, from Adesso Home, gives me lots of much needed light in a dark corner.

I looked at a lot of beautiful bar carts before deciding on this 3 tiered oval from Wayfair. I love it although it's possible I might have it a tad over-filled. #cocktailrecipedeveloperproblems

Manhattan apartments are not known for their multitude of closets so storage solutions are key. This entryway sideboard, from Bob's Discount Furniture, has a narrow profile but is sturdy as hell and holds a ton of stuff.

Finally, in the category of HOLDS A TON OF STUFF is probably my favorite addition from Simpli Home. These cabinets (there are 3 of them) have divided light glass fronts which lets me see what I have but still keeps it a tad hidden. Perfect for a food and cocktail photographer but lots of mismatched props.

Speaking of cocktails, here is the recipe, and links for products are below. I hope you enjoyed my little tour. Cheers!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Candy canes
  • 1 oz. White chocolate
  • 8 oz. Champagne or sparkling wine
  • 2 Scoops raspberry sorbet (I used one with chocolate chips in it)

Instructions:

  1. Place the candy canes in a plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Pour them into a shallow bowl.
  2. Melt the white chocolate in the microwave for about 20 - 30 seconds. Run the rims of two champagne glasses through the chocolate and then through the crushed candy canes. Refrigerate for a few minutes to help set.
  3. When ready, pour the champagne into the glasses and carefully place the scoops of sorbet into the glasses.
