Tangerine Mint Whiskey Slush

Recipe for a whiskey based frozen cocktail flavored with fresh tangerine juice, lemon juice, simple syrup and mint.

March is acting true to form - coming in like a lion with snow and freezing temperatures but quickly becoming a lamb. We'll still have some very cold days before spring but we're starting to get a taste of warmth and sunshine.

I desperately needed a warm day in the park because this month has been filled with broken keys in locks, broken photography equipment and a dog needing heart meds. Fortunately the market is still filled with winter citrus including varieties of grapefruit, oranges and juicy tangerines that were destined for a cocktail. It's a simple blend of whiskey, juices, fresh mint and ice but the result is so refreshing. Cheers!

Ingredients

  • 4 oz. Whiskey
  • 1/2 Cup tangerine juice
  • 2 oz. Lemon juice
  • 2 oz. Simple syrup
  • Handful of fresh mint

Instructions

  1. Add the whiskey, tangerine juice, lemon juice, simple syrup and mint to a blender. Fill with ice and puree until all the large chunks are broken up.
  2. Serve in chilled cocktail glasses and garnish with sprigs of fresh mint and wedges of tangerine, if desired.
