Capturing the Color

Capturing the Color

Though spring officially began at the end of March, for me there's something about the first week of April that fully brings on the feeling. It's typically when the trees are flowering, enveloping us in their dazzling, albeit brief, beauty. Tulips spring up all over the city in a multi-colored show and restaurateurs set up their outdoor tables. Manhattanites adore being outside and any eatery with a sidewalk cafe license is sure to draw a crowd.

I'm using this week to do some spring cleaning and get ready for the upcoming holiday - Passover in our case. I'll be sharing some of those recipes over the next few days as I begin to cook and prep. But I also know how fleeting the current parade of outdoor color is. And so I grabbed my camera and took my pup with me to capture it while I could. Though Manhattan is tightly packed with buildings and people, anyone who thinks we don't do our part to bring nature to the city simply hasn't been here in spring. Enjoy!

The trees outside this townhouse may not have flowered yet but its owner made sure the birds felt welcome.

  12. Aw thanks for giving me a taste of my hometown in Spring! I remember growing up I always knew Spring was in the air because a tree on Charles Street bloomed pink before all the others. Here in Israel Passover preparations are in full swing! You can't even find potato chips in the grocery store any more :-)
