Amarelle

Autumn is wonderful at Amarelle. it was a cold, drizzling November evening when we arrived but a prompt seating near the glowing fireplace quickly took the chill off. The restaurant is beautiful with a clean, modern look. Extra high ceilings though, can amplify noise and don't make for as intimate an ambiance.

Amarelle
Our waiter was friendly, helpful and attentive but seemed to get too busy as the room filled up. A different server took over for him midway and was far more rushed.

Waiting on each table was a large, crisp fall apple with a sharp knife for easy slicing. Combined with the excellent bread, it made for a tasty and interesting start to the meal. We'd read that the pumpkin risotto was worth ordering and we couldn't agree more. The creamy risotto arrives in an edible dish of a roasted mini pumpkin, complete with its lid. If ever we saw a dish that was temptingly plated, this was it! Entrees were very well prepared, seared local duck and a delectable piece of Kobe beef with interesting smokey sweet potatoes.

AmarellePortions are not large here but between the apple, bread, appetizers, entrees and dessert and an excellent Shiraz, were were happily sated.  And Amarelle's seasonal menu concept was so excellently executed for autumn that we can't wait to taste the other seasons here!
