Caramel Pear Bourbon Cocktail

Recipe for a bourbon cocktail flavored with pear juice, lemon and caramel.

The weather is finally chilly in New York and that makes me want to drink things like bourbon while wrapped in a cozy throw blanket by the fire. Um, except that I don't have a fireplace and the dog is currently using the throw blanket as her own. But bourbon I have plenty of!

I still brave the chill on Saturday mornings to head to the farmer's market because I need all the pumpkins and apples and pears! Since some of those apples and pears find themselves wrapped in caramel sauce, I thought I'd combine that with the bourbon for a perfect autumn cocktail. You could easily use apple in this drink but I'm on a pear and caramel kick lately so pear it was. The drink is slightly tart to give you room for a lick of the caramel on the rim of the glass. But feel free to adjust the amount of simple syrup to make it as sweet or tart as you like. Cheers!
