Me:  Hello
Machine Voice:  This is a very important notice concerning your credit card account.  There's no problem but this is your final opportunity to speak to a representative about lowering your interest rate.  Please press 1 to speak to a customer service representative or 3 to discontinue further calls.  Again, this is your final notice.
Me:  Click (while foolishly thinking that, if this is my final notice, I can just ignore it.)

TUESDAY:
Ring Ring
Me:  Hello
Machine Voice:  This is a very important notice concerning your credit card account...........Again, this is your final notice.
Me:  Pressing 3 to discontinue further calls.

WEDNESDAY:
Ring Ring
Me:  Hello
Machine Voice:  This is a very important notice concerning your credit card account...........Again, this is your final notice.
Me:  Pressing 1 to speak to a customer service representative
Customer Service Representative:  Hello, would you like to know how to lower your interest rates?
Me:  No, I'd like to know how I can be removed from your calling list
Customer Service Representative:  Click (sound of dial tone)

Me:  Hello

Customer Service Representative:  Hello, would you like to know how to lower your interest rates?

  1. Things like this do make me glad that some cellular services do not even recognize our area code as valid!
    Funny that they are nice enough to give you an option to discontinue further calls, however, it does not even register. Have a great day!

  2. Oh man that is so frustrating! I was getting more and more irked just reading it! Particularly the dial tone. Way to tuck tail and run, credit company!

  4. Too funny. I love this post cuz it is SO true. I get these calls all the time AND I have registered our phone numbers on the Do Not Call Registry

  9. It's due to crap like this that we cancelled (or rather, simply stopped using since we don't want to bounce around our credit rating) our credit card.

  11. Anita...I came over from Chef Dennis and I am glad I came. Great blog and thank you for sharing the simple to prepare yet delicious corn salad with us :) Shall try it out this weekend. I like Janet's suggestion too ! That will stop those calls ! LOL!
